1 out of 5 stars Once Great, Now Cheap and Awful   March 21, 2010
M. F. Dunn (Boston, MA)
I've been using Pampers for 2 children over the past 2.5 years and have never minded paying the higher price for such great quality. However, they recently changed their diapers, removing the mesh liner and rendering them no better quality than a generic, store-brand diaper, except they're twice the price. In short, they now leak and are uncomfortable for my daughters to wear, since the mesh liner is gone. They also have lead to diaper rash. Way to alienate your customers, Pampers!

I am in the market for a new diaper. I'm disgusted with Pampers. Don't waste your money.

1 out of 5 stars Beware! Cruisers have been defiled!   March 20, 2010
Elisa's Mom (Dallas, TX)
I was a stalwart Cruiser fan --- I used Pampers Cruisers for all three of my children. Until now. P&G has been "updating" (that implies an improvement, right?)the product: first removing the mesh, adding "comfort flex" (though the Cruisers always had flexible sides? not sure what this update did), and now with "dry-max". Let's put it simply: they've completely adulterated this product. It's now paper thin, feels cheap (like Target-brand), and the worst is, the ones I purchased were defective. The side lining, advertised as the improved "comfort flex," peels off onto the baby's skin, leaving a white vein behind that you have to scrape off. If it were just one of the diapers in my economy-size box that did this, I wouldn't write this scathing review. But it's 4 out of 5 --- at least.

1 out of 5 stars Absorbant Portion of the Diaper was Changed for the Worse   March 18, 2010
Emily Bronte (New York, N.Y.)

I have two children ages 2.5 and 11 months. Until a few days ago, we used Pampers exclusively because I fell in love with the Pampers Swaddlers, Size 2-3 (14-22 Lbs), Economy Plus Pack, 152 Swaddlers that we received from the hospital after the birth of our first.

Needless to say, as many reviewers have noted, Pampers decided to change the liner a few months ago, a change that resulted in many leaks (a problem that I never had before the change). I always order at least a size larger for my kids (based on the recommended weight) so that was clearly not the issue.

So what did pampers change?

1. Basically with the "new" and supposedly "improved" liner, the liner portion that used to measure 17 inches for a size 5 Cruiser is now about 10 inches!!! Pampers basically removed the liner portion from the back of the diaper so that my girls started to leak from up the back. From my anecdotal experience (I didn't measure the amounts of liquid but from what I saw) the "new" Cruiser holds less liquid as compared to the old one.

2. They also changed the old "wick" or "mesh" liner to one that has no holes (no mesh). I didn't think that this made much of a difference. The main problem was the surface area of absorbent liner that comes with the diaper.

So I started to research. I researched and found a pad like thing that you insert in the diaper (called diaper Doublers), but some people said it wasn't good and that they still had leaks.

A thought occurred to me: I would just try a different brand of diapers, as scary as that was for me after using Pampers for over 2 years.

So after extensive research into other brands (including store/generic brands like white cloud, kirkland (costco's brand), and Luvs Premium Stretch Diapers, Size 4 (22-37 Lbs), 180 Diapers (another brand made by pampers, but which they also changed in 2009, resulting in the tabs breaking as many reviewers noted), I decided on Huggies Supreme Little Movers Diapers, Step 4 (Pack of 100).

I can tell you that the Huggies Supreme Little Movers are GREAT!!! I was apprehensive in making the switch because some reviewers complained about a gel substance that stuck to and irritated their little one's bottom, but I think that was an old problem as I have not seen any gel come out of the diaper, nor have I experienced diaper rash, which I was also wary of.

As choosing a diaper is a highly individual thing, I offer my experience as a guide to others who are similarly situated and are feeling frustrated by the sudden changes with the Cruisers.

I would also like to note that I also ordered the Huggies Overnites Diapers, Size 4, Big Pack, 64-Count Box for the evenings, and I am extremely pleased with them. They are like oversized swaddlers and have extra absorbent portions. Finally, no leaks!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great buy and received within 2 days!   March 16, 2010

The Pampers diapers were a great deal but most of all it was so much more convenient than buying them at the grocery store as they show up right at your front door within a couple of days!

1 out of 5 stars These diapers are not worth the paper/plastic they are printed on   March 12, 2010

If I could give no stars for this diaper I would.
I have been exclusively using pampers with the dry-weave for months after trying most brands and being dissatisfied with them for whatever reason. These diapers were my favorite because they did not leak or leave marks on my little one's behind and the dry-weave actually kept the wetness off my baby's skin leaving him diaper rash free! Pampers has DRASTICALLY changed what used to be an awesome diaper.
I use the Subscribe and Save program and they have sent me both versions of this diaper the old dry-weave diaper and the new and "improved" diaper. Amazon has not updated their profile for this and they are still getting rid of their old stock - if you're lucky enough to get it! I would NOTY RECOMMEND the new pampers (which I received in my last Subscribe and Save order) because they LEAK, ARE HIGHLY PERFUMED, DO NOT KEEP WETNESS AWAY FROM BABY'S BOTTOM and are CHEAPLY MADE AND NOT "NEW AND IMPROVED" AT ALL. These are definitely NOT their "driest diaper ever" as Pampers claims.

Pampers has gone straight downhill on this one. I recommend Seventh Generation instead. No dry-weave but soft and comfortable, non-perfumed and are gentle both on baby and the environment!
